Rugby RCC Committee Members & Volunteers

Martin Orrill (Chairman)
Has enjoyed ridng Rugby RCC Time Trials since 2002 and still trying to get faster! Previously enjoyed marathons and triathlons until his knees gave up under the strain!

John Brothers (Secretary)
John is the club secretary and has been a member since 2009. He was born in 1952 and still hopes to break 30 mins for 10 miles. Outside cycling his interests are walking, travel and languages.

Laurie Bird (Treasurer)
Joined the club in 1992 originally as a supportive parent, but soon became involved in timekeeping & recording, Open event organiser 1998-2018 and set up the club website in 2002. Devised the club booking system in 2011.

Phil Scott (Membership)
Cyclist and triathlete for quite a while now! Road raced as a school boy and junior. Recently accredited & raced track nights at Derby Velodrome. Returned to time trialing in 2006. Still likes to warm up with a swim and cool down with a run.

Brendan Hirst
After years away from the sport, he got back into riding in 2015. Joined RRCC in September 2017 in time to enter the Newnham Hill Climb and reignited his passion for hill climbs. Regular Wednesday evening TT rider. Has competed in the RTTC National Hill Climb Championships placing P4, P3 and P2 in Vet50 & Vet55 categories. Still training for that elusive win.

Oliver Billing (Club Captain and Clothing Officer)
Joined the club in 2017 following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was a member in the 1950s. Previously rowed at University, but made the swap from the boat to the bike in 2012. Now a keen club cyclist, time triallist and amateur bike mechanic with a particular interest in riding up hills!

Judith Harper
Joined RRCC in 2016 to add TT racing to her cycling portfolio, which includes CX racing, road riding, occasional MTB and triathlon. Has always ridden a bike but took up more serious cycling aged 50 to keep her son company! Can be spotted as the short one wearing several more layers than anyone else.

Alice O’Neill (Press Officer)
Alice joined RRCC 2 years ago with a view to getting better on the bike – as it was her weakest discipline in triathlon! She has now have achieved almost average status by training and doing regular Wednesday nights TTs and ensuring important recovery nutrition – cheesy chips and a pint!

Mark Billing
Mark joined the club after supporting his son Oliver and then becoming involved with marshalling and timekeeping. His ties to the club stem back to the early 1970’s when his father was a member and he used to help him marshall.

Jack Stewardson
Jack joined the club in 2021 after getting into cycling during the Covid pandemic and quickly fell in love with time trialling. He loves a challenge and likes to seek out the hillier terrain to test his climbing legs too!
