Reserve List

Start list for this week only –

Rugby Velo will start using odd numbers from #1. They have requested spaces for 10 racers.

RRCC will start using even numbers from #2.

To maintain a sense of competition and reduce unnecessary overtaking, the first ten RRCC racers have been placed according to their 10-mile handicap (10th to 1st).

From #21 onwards all racers have retained their start order.

I appreciate this is a change from the usual system but hope it has your support and produces good fun racing for all.

Prior to the 4pm close on race day, you may swap or change your numbers in the usual way.

Clearly this grading by nature will be imperfect however after hours of discussion and suggestions the overriding factors that we considered were:

Safety – Starting riders in a graded format will result in racing completed well before we lose crucial light and visibility, and potentially limit the need of overtaking another rider.
Volunteers – Starting in this format means all of the volunteers and Marshals can get home before dark.
Racing – We are a racing club, so grading improves competition with riders of similar abilities competing and improving their times!
