Rugby RCC Committee Members & Volunteers

Martin Orrill (Chairman)
Has enjoyed ridng Rugby RCC Time Trials since 2002 and still trying to get faster! Previously enjoyed marathons and triathlons until his knees gave up under the strain!

John Brothers (Secretary)
John is the club secretary and has been a member since 2009. He was born in 1952 and still hopes to break 30 mins for 10 miles. Outside cycling his interests are walking, travel and languages.

Laurie Bird (Treasurer)
Joined the club in 1992 originally as a supportive parent, but soon became involved in timekeeping & recording, Open event organiser 1998-2018 and set up the club website in 2002. Devised the club booking system in 2011.

Alice O’Neill (Membership Officer)
Alice joined RRCC in 2018 with a view to getting better on the bike – as it was her weakest discipline in triathlon! In 2025 season she took home a haul of trophies suggesting she has now gone beyond almost average. A regular at Wednesday night TTs and ensuring important recovery nutrition – cheesy chips and a pint!

Brendan Hirst
After years away from the sport, he got back into riding in 2015. Joined RRCC in September 2017 in time to enter the Newnham Hill Climb and reignited his passion for hill climbs. Regular Wednesday evening TT rider. Has competed in the RTTC National Hill Climb Championships placing P4, P3 and P2 in Vet50 & Vet55 categories. Still training for that elusive win.

Oliver Billing (Club Captain and Clothing Officer)
Joined the club in 2017 following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was a member in the 1950s. Previously rowed at University, but made the swap from the boat to the bike in 2012. Now a keen club cyclist, time triallist and amateur bike mechanic with a particular interest in riding up hills!

Fiona Haggett
Fiona joined the club in 2020 when marshalling at events got her out of the house during Covid. She is a keen leisure cyclist (who likes to stop and enjoy the scenery) and has no intention of entering a time trial when marshalling and timekeeping takes a lot less energy!

Tommy Walker
Media | Road Racing | Project 100 Team
I’ve been riding bikes for many years. What started as a faster way to commute to work soon became much more than transport, cycling is now part of who I am.
My competitive journey began with sportives, always chasing faster times and pushing my limits. That naturally led me into time trialling before progressing to road and circuit racing, where I now compete as a Category 3 rider.
One of my proudest achievements to date is winning the 2025 Senior Police Time Trial Championship, a title I’m determined to defend.
Alongside racing, I’m passionate about helping others discover the sport. Whether you’re curious about getting started in road racing, circuit racing, or time trialling, I’m always happy to share advice, answer questions, and help new riders take their first steps into competitive cycling.
